Hi guys!

My sister is currently 9 months and 4 days pregnant and we dont know if its a boy or a girl!

Since learning that I was going to be an Aunt I have been putting money aside every week and have about 600 dollars now to get the baby some cool things!
Between us, (my family, and my sisters husbands family) we have already gotten everything she NEEDS, (stroller, car seat ect), so I want to get the baby some lovely clothes/toys and other things.

My question(s) is/are…
What is the Best unique gift you were given when your baby was born?
Where do I get the best coolest/ unique clothes?
What is the best baby gadget out there?

Thanks for your time guys and girls!!

Hi Sapphira,
Does your sister have a breast pump? They are a bit pricey, but would make a great gift, if she is going to breastfeed and doesn’t have one yet. When my sister had her first baby almost ten years ago, I went to Michael’s arts and crafts store and bought a baby bassinet basket and then started assembling my own gift basket. I put a bunch of different outfits, a bag of diapers, a box of wipes, onesie, bibs, cloth diapers to use as spit up rags, paci’s, a couple plush dolls, a couple baby blankets, hats, a couple bottles, spoons, baby bowls, booties, ect. There were a lot of goodies in there. You should have seen the look on my sisters face. It was priceless. She was so surprised and very much speechless. I got many, many compliments on that basket walking through the hospital to my sister’s room. She loved the basket, and I had a lot of fun putting the basket together for her Good Luck with what ever you decide to give her. Your sister will love it!

If you haven’t gotten her one yet, a swing. We LOVE ours. It’s the Fisher Price Nature’s Touch swing. It’s a complete lifesaver.

For clothes I’d say Children’s Place or Old Navy. However, you’re only going to be able to buy in greens and yellow and unisex style if you don’t know the gender.

I always give a bath thermometer and a gum massager. I cannot do without either. The bath thermometer is a safety thing and a toy all rolled into one.
My favorite gifts were the burping cloths from pod t training and a beautiful month by month picture frame for the first year.

Just a tip for clothes — i’ve been given a few jumpsuits (i’m in australia so its winter and everything is long sleeve etc) but some of them have buttons instead of clips and weird ways of opening the legs to change the nappy etc and they’re just frustrating really. Don’t get me wrong i love them because they’re absolutely gorgeous and soft but they can be rather frustrating when you have a screaming newborn ….

Wow you sound so generous she is lucky to have a sister like you.

When i had my 2 kids my best friend bought them each a baby book that records up to their first 10 years..some have height charts and family trees to fill out they also have pages to write when your baby hit all their milestones and a little wallet on the back cover to put the hospital tag and cards for keep sake.
Another nice thing i got was a silver baby brush set with a little silver chest covered in teddy bears..and when your child has their first hair cut you save a lock of their hair in the chest.

Maybe something like paying for a family portrait to be done would be a great idea also.
The best baby gadget i think is a sit and swing as you get to put bub down while you do the dishes or laundry and the swinging keeps them occupied.

Wow! You are a very generous person…your sister and niece or nephew are definitely very lucky to have you in their lives!

I am an absolute gadget queen and have found a few neat-o things for my munckin: an Eddie Bauer bag dispenser that clips on to my diaper bag (it holds bags for dirty diapers/clothes while you’re out and about), boon spoons from Target (friggin’ amazing…there’s a bulb that you put your baby food into and it screws onto a plastic spoon…there’s a hole in the spoon that the baby food squirts through. The Boon line has a lot of neat stuff), a powdered formula dispenser (I breastfed my guy for 8 months so I’ve just started using this and it’s a god-send), a bottle/baby food warmer, a fold-up stroller cover (protects against rain, wind, sun) by Jolly Jumper. I could go on and on…

For clothing, H&M actually has some pretty cute stuff…we just got my little guy a shirt from there that says "Still living with my parents" on it. I also like Children’s Place and Carter’s (for cute comfy stuff).

    Have fun shopping!
