newborn
0-3 (larger than newborn!!! I made a mistake of starting out with this size and they were way to big for my 6 lb 12 ozer…. :/ ) had to run out for newborn clothes right away

9-12
12-??? dont know after that
Newborn is ususally for up to 7-8 lbs. Then starts the 0-3 months, 3-6 months, 6-9 months, 12 months, 18 months, 24 months along with 2 toddler to 3 T and 4 T and so on. My son was born at a little over 9lbs and started right away in the 3-6 month range. By 9 months he was wearing 18 months. You can’t always go by the size that matches the age. He is now just over three and wears 4T bottoms and 5T tops. Also…the difference between 24 months and 2T is the 2T will be a bit longer and fit just a bit differently. It also doesn’t help that different manufacturers will size different;y….just like in adult clothes!! Good luck! References :
There are lots of different sizes but no standard in terms of what each size means. Sizes are determined by the manufacturer and, from my experience, vary greatly from one make of kids clothes to another. My daughter is just over 14 lbs and still wearing onesies that are supposed to go up to 11 lbs. Go figure.
Best thing you can do when clothes shopping and really NEED to find something that fits your baby at that time — bring along an outfit, preferably one-piece pyjamas, that fits them really well. That way you can hold your own outfit up to the one you’re buying to see if they’re of similar dimensions. This is the ONLY way I can acurately determine if something will fit my daughter (8 months old but born 6 weeks early…. still wearing some 0 – 3 month stuff, lots of 3 month stuff, and just starting to wear 6 month stuff). the answers before mine are right…but remember that your little one may not fit into newborn when he/she is a newborn, or 0-3 when your little one is that age…..My son barely fit into newborn for one week then he was in 0-3 and now he is 2.5 months old and wearing 3-6 and some 6-9 months……. Well different brands have different sizing.
Most commonly it’s:
premie
newborn
0-3 months
3-6 months
6-9 months
9-12 months
12-18 months
Some just say 6 months or 12 months on them. And some are 6-12 months. Most baby gap sweatshirts are like that. =))
