Hi,

Since 10-15 days, my daughter (2 years old) is acting crazily about clothes. She makes me change her clothes atleast 10 times a day. Sometimes she wakes up at middle of the night and asks me to change her clothes. She gets the step stool in the closet and takes out all the clothes. She loves Jeans and does not want to sleep in PJs but Jeans. I am getting worried.

Any suggestions? Is anyone in the same boat?

I wouldn’t change her clothes at all during the day (unless they get dirty) Instead at walmart you can buy a dress up box. They are cardboard and look like little trunks they come with dress up outfits and jewelry. They also have room left in them to add stuff. My daughter is only 15 months old and loves to play dress up we put all her play jewelry, wands, purses, dress up slippers, and wings she loves it. We put it in front of her closet and now we never have a problem with her getting in her closet. I hope this helps good luck!

No, because most mothers don’t let thir kids do whatever they want, wouldn’t change her clothes like that, wouldn’t let her play in her drawers, they would teach her NOT to do that and to play with her toys instead!

Cute. I probably wouldn’t change her clothes in the middle of the night, but I don’t know why she can’t sleep in jeans if she wants to. I bought my niece sparkly pink sneakers for her 5th birthday and the biggest compliment she gave me was sleeping in them.

Changing clothes is just another activity, more play. There’s nothing wrong with that. How about getting a trunk and putting some costumes in it and making a game out of it.

Wanting to change clothes is normal, but I’d be more willing to let her have a dress up bin and she should try to practice dressing herself. Put a lock on her closet so she can’t take out her own clothing, and she should not have her clothing changed. PJ’s are made to be tightly fitting and flame retardant (statistically, most home fires happen at night), so I’d insist she sleeps in pj’s and not jeans. If she wants to change her clothing, she changes her own clothing, but she does it with specific outfits that you have in a dress up bin that she can put on over her other clothing so you’re not constantly doing laundry. She needs to practice putting clothes on.

This is very normal behavior. (I too wouln’t change my childs clothes in the middle of the night but most kids like to change their clothes several times a day) I let my children sleep in regular clothes. I used to do it growing up and it never hurt me. They will outgrow it. I did like the suggestion though to get some costumes. Most girls love playing dress up.
