I am having my first baby and I am not having a baby shower because I dont have family. My baby is due July 27th of this year and I need to know what I need to buy and how much of it? I am clueless. Anyone know where to get cheap baby clothes? Im not sure if I need little hats and coats or not?
For great deals on baby clothes you may want to check out Ebay, Craigslist, and your local baby re-sale shops (Play it Again, Once Upon A Child, etc.). They sell great quality items that are used. You may also want to see if there are any re-sale events going on in your area….
As far as HOW MUCH to get…..hold back on getting TONS of newborn stuff. I would, honestly, only get a couple of items in THAT size. Your baby could be too big to fit into it….or not fit into it long enough to justify having gotten it. Get a couple of outfits for pictures….and then stick to 0-3 and 3-6 items.
Sleepers are great
Onesies are great
Cute outfits….you won’t want to mess with them after a couple of weeks go by. Hard to change diapers with these and they have a tendancy to ride up on baby!
Sockies…buy a fair amount of these because they disappear like crazy. My washer must have eaten half of mine!
Mitts….not that necesary. A lot of the sleepers will have the fold down cuff. Just keep babies nails trimmed…it will keep her from scratching her face!
Caps…for a baby born in July…not that neccesary.
So here is what I would buy….
2- Newborn Outfits (Cute ones for photos)
3- 0-3 month outfits (Cute ones for photos and outings)
5 Sleepers/Rompers 0-3 months
5 Sleepers/Rompers 3-6 months
10 Onesies 0-3 Months
10 Onesies 3-6 months
5 Pair of Pants 0-3months
5 Pair of Pants 3-6months
20 pairs of sockies 0-6 months
2 Caps
6 RECEIVING BLANKETS (Do get a fair amount of these. WalMart makes a Child of Mine Brand by Carters that is 30X40 and that is the PERFECT size for swaddling. These blankets hold up to repeated washigns, don’t shrink, and don’t get fuzzy. They come in packs of three….get TWO packs!!! You can use these for blankets, burp cloths, changing pads, cleaning up messes, THEY ARE GREAT!!!
Hope that helped. Good luck to you….take care of yourself and that baby!!

Don’t worry about hats or coats just yet. The best thing you’ll want to put your baby in is onesies. You’ll want several of those because you’re having a summer baby. You’ll want a just a few nicer outfits for pictures and meeting family, but mostly, you’ll find that your baby will be more comfortable in those one piece underwear t-shirts.
Good luck!!! Summer babies are fun!!

The rule used to be, 1 on
1 in the wash
1 airing.
As your baby is due in the summer, hats won’t be necessary straight away. Look in charity shops for nearly new baby wear. In mine, we have loads, and it’s so difficult to sell, it nearly always goes to jumble. Very sad.

Get plenty of onsies, and don’t go too crazy over the 0-3 mos. stuff. They grow out of it so fast. Depending on where you live it should be warm enough to not have to worry about hats and coats. Remember to always dress your baby you would dress. You don’t want to over heat, or let baby get too cold.

Well at that time of year, your baby will be wearing lots of onesies. Not just the underneath kind but just a one piece outfit. I suggest to have atleast 15 outifts, 10 or so sleepers for at night if your house is air conditioned, 6-8 pairs of socks, a hat or two. Look through your phone book for a second hand shop. I’m on my fourth baby and I’ve bought all the clothes I need so far from a store that resells baby clothes. It costs half the price of a retail store. I wish you the best of luck. If you need any other help feel free to email me.

I would say hold off on buying any baby clothes. Wait till your closer to you due date, you dont want to jinx yourself. You will need lots of diapers, undershirts socks little hats, wipes, baby formula, buy different sizes cause as you know the baby grows pretty fast. go online to different websites, and see what types of prices the things are. you can shop online or you can go to the store.

I had my son on the end of June-its so hot-onsies are the way to go when its so humid and light receiving blankets-they are not real expensive as you get like 5 in a pack or so-good luck-just be sure to keep your baby out of the sun. Congrats

Get several "onesies" for newborns, then 3-6 mos, then 6-9 mos and 9-12 mos. Probably 5-10 of each. Get regular clothes just like stated above. Get DIAPERS. LOTS OF DIAPERS. Get Burp Cloths. Get little wash cloths. Get 4-5 Bottles. Get a gift certificate to a SPA. You’ll need it. Enjoy!
References :
Buy two pack of onsies in newborn and 3 months. Buy about five or six sleepers more if you don’t have a washing machine, socks, hats, hand mitts for scratching. Little shirts and pants. Don’t know where you live but I wouldn’t buy a coat. Most of the time the baby in wrapped in blankets.
Congrats and Good luck
Why can’t you have a baby shower with a few of your friends or coworker. Also my husband had a diaper party at his work.
Also I would go second hand shops for baby clothes only if you are really hard up. Not to sound like a snob. I have bought dress and coats but not baby essentials.

If you can find a good thrift or consignment store, they usually have good stuff. Babies grow so quickly, most of the clothes under 12mths are in pretty good condition. You can also try garage sales. As far as how much to buy, depends how often you want to do laundry. But don’t go crazy, my son has plenty of clothes worn only once (if at all).

Hi my baby is due may 10Th, congratulations! I’ve started buying some but i don’t think you should get to many because baby’s grow very quickly and you would just be wasting money by overdoing it.

Depends on where you live. If it is hot, your baby will be in only diapers a lot, or I used undershirts and diapers during the summer. A few cute summer outfits too, just for going out or whatever. At night, again I used onsies and that is it. You wont need hats and coats for the summer. Regarding stores, go to Kmart, Target, Walmart. Do you have those near you? Once you get closer to the fall where the temps are really changing and it is getting cooler, get fall clothes. Do not buy too much as your baby may grow quickly and not wear some of them. Same is true for diapers, don’t stock up too much, you may find yourself getting rid of them. A few pieces of advice from a mom of 4: don’t spend a lot on clothes, it is not worth it. They don’t need shoes, as cute as they may be. Newborn nightgowns are horrible, they can draw up their legs in them and they are not very warm. Feety pjs are worse. Once the baby moves a lot, they can pull their feet out of the bottom and then not get them back in. I used union suits with all my kids. They are very cute and I would put on matching socks with them. Never had to worry about stuck legs/feet again. Hope this helps.

A baby in July will need layers of cotton and little summer hats. Sleep suits/baby grows in the first month are the easiest thing to dress them in as 0-3 months clothes are almost always too big. Primark is cheap, Tesco also do good basics.
Buy thing in packs as they work out cheaper. A coat wont be necessary in July but a couple of little cardigans and a shawl will be enough. oh and lots of bibs as they are mucky little things. What about you and friends having a baby shower.

first of all congrats
go to yard sells this spring you will find the best deals on clothes and everything else you will need or want. don’t just buy newborn clothes buy all sizes from 0-3 months up to 8-12 that way you’ll have clothes in case the baby grows faster then your bank account that happens
good luck

It was around the same time of year, so keep in mind the season and stock up on the stuff that you really need saving the bulkier and more expensive items for when you have a little more cash and know what size you will need.
As far as cheap try stores like Burlington Coat Factories Baby Depot and Old Navy and Target. Also beg and borrow you will be surprised how many people want to unload their old baby clothes to make room for other things.
Lots of onesies, and sleeveless onesies, since it will be July. light pants or just the short-sleeve all in one outfits will due. Good luck!

Ebay or your local thrift shop would be a great place to start looking for inexpensive articles for your baby.
Most babies only wear newborn size clothes for a few weeks to a month.
I suggest the basics:
10 t shirts of each size
10 pair of socks of each size
10 pj’s of each size
2 dress outfits of each size
10 outfits of each size
3 hats
10 receiving blankets
10 burp cloths
3 sets of sheets
babies this age will not need a sweater in July, just be sure to swaddle them in a receiving blanket, a they get older, their needs change.
I remember changing my newborns t shirt and clothes (or pj’s) 3 or 4 times a day.
This MAY be enough to do laundry every other day or every 3rd day for your newborn. I always did their clothes seperate, with laundry soap just for babies. ( I stopped doing this when my kids turned 2)
Hope this helps.

I think it really depends on your personal preference and your lifestyle. Do you go out alot? Are you going to be dressing the baby up for church? I’d have at least 7-10 sleepers/gowns, and then several outfits for going out. You’ll also need some blankets, at least 4 crib sheets, bibs, baby bottles (if you’re not breastfeeding) and a good infant car seat.
During the week, I just took my baby to the sitter’s (my dad) while I worked, and I must admit I kept the baby in sleepers quite a bit. It keeps them warm, and they’re cute. I had several outfits that I could dress baby in if I was going shopping, or out to friends, etc. But if I was just around my home, most of the time the baby was in a sleeper. They are only in newborn clothes 3 months or less. Here’s a link to baby center website (this page is a list of suggested baby gear). http://www.babycenter.com/refcap/baby/babygear/59.html
This site has some really good articles. If you’re on a budget, there’s some things in that article that you can do without, but that article might give you some ideas of where to start.
As far as places to go, try places like Goodwill stores, and consignment shops. Since babies don’t wear clothes for very long, most things are in pretty good shape. You might could also check out your local Freecycle group (look at yahoo groups for ones in your area.) You might could find someone with baby stuff to give away there, you just have to pick it up.

Congrats I have 2.5 babies and since you’ll deliver in the summer you’ll want to get lots of onesies and they’ll provide a hat for you at the hospital. Newborns grow out of clothes so quickly no need to buy Tons of "outfits" because he/she will grow out of them real quick. For winter just get lots of sleepers. And plan on doing lots of laundry they pee, poop, and puke on eveything. So the things you need to get most are sleepers, onesies, and bibs, oh and burp clothes. Goodwill or any second hand stores are great places to go to. and look in the bargain corner of your local newspaper. I hpe thats helpful.

been there done that
You will not need a lot of newborn cloths, unless you have a preemie. Your baby will quickly grow out of them. Some babies don’t ever fit into newborn cloths. As far as good deals on baby clothe try Ross for cheap name brands other than that walmart have pretty good prices. You could also try ebay there are ebay stores that sell new cloths. I wouldn’t worry about heavy hats and coats just yet. Blankets will be fine. I would get at least 1 summer hat to protect baby’s head in the sun. I also would recomend not buying to many newborn diapers as they frow out of them quicker than newborn cloths.

Mine skipped the whole newborn stage!! I had to send my husband back to the shop with her coming home outfit to get a bigger size. Don’t buy too many for each stage and if you get a certain size as presents don’t feel too embarrassed to take some back to swap for a different size. I know I ended up putting outfits on just for the sake of her wearing it just the once and several were put away with the tags still on.

You will not need newborn hats or coats, before it gets cold your baby will have probably outgrown them before it gets cold. What you will need the most of is onesies. They are great and versatile. just remember you can still shop after your baby is born. Don’t spend too much$$ on clothes. A friend of mine just had a baby and she had allot of 0-3 clothes well her baby girl was over 10lbs(even though the doc said she wouldn’t be) now her baby is 1 month old and can’t wear any of those clothes. I would go for a dozen or so of the onesies and maybe3-6 little pants and then just a couple of really cute outfits. Honestly baby’s don’t wear the cute stuff much so try yard sales and used clothes stores.
References :
Only buy a minimal amount of stuff in newborn or first baby size as he or she will grow out of most of it before they’ve even had chance to wear it (and puke up on it!). Try instead to buy a few things in 0-3 months and 3-6 months so that you have clothes for them to grow into. Think of what the weather will be like when the baby is born and get a hat or coat accordingly but only buy one item in that size!
References :
you dont really need tons of clothes as babies grow that quick
so id say about 7 baby grows, 1-2 cardigans, hat, socks mittens
try Ebay they have some beautiful clothes, and there new and cheaper then the shops, at the shops it cost around 10 quid for one outfit for the child to only waer once or twice, so dont spend too much money on cute outfits
its the nappies that cost the most

go garage saleing in your community that is the cheapest more effective way to buy clothes, some of the clothes aren’t even worn. I’d suggest you to have this:
7 – 8 onesies
3 -4 pairs of pants (just to go with the onesies for short trips)
3 – 4 shirts
2 – 3 take out outfits (to show your child off in)
2 or 3 hats
2 or 3 coats (for those cold nights you take them for a walk in)
your choice on how many gloves and booties to have, some just like a pair or 2 some like lots, it depends on your style.
you might want to get that list in both 0-3 mnths and 3-6 months. Make sure you look at the weight sizes though when you buy some of them are marked as newborn(or0-3 months) and they only have the size up to 8 lbs. That would be a good take home outfit. Have you ever thought about a baby sling, there good to have when you grocery shop and take small walks.

depends..start of with a small stock of everything..you can always pick up more later. I had hardly anything for my twins in newborn and 0-3 mo sizes because EVERYONE who got me gifts got huge sized..(i will be set when they get to 12 months) If you have a preemie expect them to wear the smaller sizes longer. Mine are 4 months now and are STILL wearing 0-3 month stuff. Get lots of simple sleepers(lightweight for summer) ,onesies..socks…and LOTS of recieving blankets..after you are done swaddeling you can use them for burp cloths…and later on when they are no longer babies..clean with them!!!

if you are on income support you will get up £500 for your baby so you can get all your baby thing’

yes you will need baby hat’s and coats and the best place for that is mothercare but still have a look i hope it will work out for you good luck
