Goodwill is gleaning through children’s items that they will allow to be sold in their stores per new regulations now in place with the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act which went into affect February 10, 2009. A rep with a large notebook explained that Goodwill has always been proactive in pulling recalled childrens’ items. At least this thrift store chain appears to be using some commons sense and at least in Omaha, Nebraska, isn’t making it policy to not sell anything for children!

    Well, Boys & Girls, …
Well, Boys & Girls,,,, Come August 14, 2009, the new Public Law 110-314 will be in effect. Small businesses will be required to take their products to a third party testing facility to get mandatory testing. No, no, no, that’s not the bad news. The bad news is that the product being tested, will be destroyed in the testing process and it will only const the small business a mere $500 (ave) per test. Contact your congress men/women and tell them to rewrite this law or look for another job.

    I don’t understand …
I don’t understand why the Government is all of a sudden so ridiculously overboard with childrens toys containing lead paint when there is no regulation on ANY cosmetics and personal products that have TONS od lead in them…stupid.
Not to mention all the poisons on our clothes and blankets that babies mouth and suck on.
I wonder if that was just a clever ploy from big toy companies to put smaller toy makers out of buisness, I wouldn’t be surprised.

The UK use to be …
The UK use to be known for around 50 or so wonderful types of Apples many of which were used for Natural Ciders or perfect for cooking an pies!

Not so since EEC European rules stopped that, now we have virtually no producers or Farmers and the only Apples we buy are from France, our Cider is now produced from concentrated mulsh from Eastern Europe!

  • teenfashionuk says:

    OTT MADNESS!

    OTT MADNESS!

    OMG!

The decades of Asian cheap dodgy imports are hoped to be resolved by young graduates with no life experience telling us to stop selling pre-owned items in case they are dangerous – OMG how sad is that!

Were they ok for the previous generation then?

Insanity, insanity and more insanity. it never ends. Check out those offhand comments at the end of the report about “surveillance police” who will be “out there watching”. And these two news people are just like “la di dah, it’s all good” about it. Again.. insanity, insanity and more insanity…

    I am a long time …
I am a long time patron of thrift shops and can’t believe I may not be able to stretch the budget with this invaluable resource as I have for years- buying children’s clothing, toys and books! :( Why the powers that be didn’t think this through BEFORE passing this legislation last summer is irresponsible IMHO.

  • MoonlitCraft says:

This is just nuts, even thrift stores are being affected. I’m all for being safe when it comes to kids, but….wow…
