Im throwing a baby shower for my sister on 11/07. The lil boy is due 12/22 and has 2 closets full of clothes already and over 50 pair of shoes…..all she really needs is basics like diapers, baby wash and lotion, wash clothes and infant meds (tylenol and mylacon drops ect.)

I was it to be the most awesome shower ever and I want her to be wowed by my gift. I have already got her some "my aunt" bibs and made her a custom fleece knot blanket, and will include some bath goodies and other things mentioned above.

i just want to get your opinion on what the best ever baby shower gifts are? something unique you gifted or receivedd.

and any really cool baby shower activities while you’re at it! ;)

Diaper Cakes! People go crazy for them and they are adorable! They take a little time to make, but aren’t very hard. You start with a diaper waist, roll from the waist down and secure it with a clear rubberband (one for hair). Repeat until you’ve rolled 60-80 diapers, depending on size. Start with the top layer and surround some kind of baby product (I use powder) with about 6 diapers to make it round. Then construct the next layers the same way. Hold each layer in place with a larger rubberband. I always like to take receiving blankets and cover the outside and tie with ribbon. Then you can tie other items like wash clothes (I always make angels out of them!) or bibs or meds…

You made her a blanket and show you love her and care… I would love to have that from my sister which i will never get cause her husband dont like my husband and we dont know why so I am not aloud to talk to my sister or anything. My 3 children dont even know their aunt.. I would say you got her the best gift already.. You show her you care.. You show ur love… That is the best thing ever.. Sorry if it is cheesy..

If she already has a name picked out you can get something personalized for the baby, or find a onsie or baby shirt with something she really likes on it. Ebay is great for that. I got my sister a onsie with her favorite band/logo on it and she loved it.

I also found on ebay something that matched her crib set that we couldn’t find in stores. The crib set only came with 4 pieces, but you can find like 20 pieces online for a lot of sets.

Check out etsy.com for unique ideas for a baby and mom. Some of the more fun/different items I got were:
    Piggy bank
    Rockabye Baby CDs – http://rockabyebabymusic.com/
Engraved wooden block with baby’s name, weight, date of birth

For my shower, my friends decorated the tables with glass baby bottles and helium balloons tied to them. They also did sugar cookies in the shape of a baby buggy.

Your gifts sound really nice. I would be really appreciative if I were your sister. I’d love to receive any of those things…especially homemade things and bath goodies….ooooh! My baby is due …the same exact day…and what I would really really like are the basics I know I’m going to need. Diapers, mostly. I’ll be going with cloth and there are some super adorable cloth diapers out there with amazing patterns. Either way, if she’s going cloth or disposable, they’re something she’ll need for a long long lonnnnng time!

What a great sis you are :)

Honestly, the gifts I appreciated the most were the basic stuff. My son is 15MO and I still have never bought him baby shampoo/wash or baby lotion b/c I got so much at my showers. I really, really appreciate that. Stuff like this that the baby won’t grow out of but that parents will have to buy over and over are really helpful. Stuff like diapers, wipes, onsies of all sizes, blankets and burp clothes. These things may not be glamourous by themselves, but you can package them really nicely and they will help the parents out a LOT!

I saw something really cute at a friend’s shower: each guest was asked to bring either a package of diapers or wipes. For those who did, their names were entered into a raffle. At the end of the shower, one guest won something like a $10 gift card to Target or Starbucks. My friend got so many wipes and diapers, she went for months without ever having to buy any herself.

I would give someone a huge gift basket filled with a pack of diapers, wipes,a banket, baby bath/body stuff, toys,an adorable outift, and something nice for mom.I’d also put it in a fab crib or stroller if I had the cash for that but just the gift basket would be nice, too.I got one for my shower and I loved the assortment of goodies it.

Does she know what she is going to name the baby? A Posh Mommy necklace is sure to be a wow factor gift. You can have it engraved with the baby’s name and a birthstone set in it. If she doesn’t know the baby’s name you can get a "due tag" It’s a tall tag with the birthstone of the month the baby is due and the engraving area is left blank (which she can have engraved later). They were named one of the top five celebrity baby shower gifts. They are shiny and beautiful. I got one for my sister in law and it was a huge hit.
